Are you looking for the perfect Christmas tree? Here are a few suggestions to help you create holiday magic!
Home and Garden Stores
Intratuin: This chain store has plenty of natural trees on offer, along with household decor and accessories to help you get your festive on.
Tuincentrum Osdorp: Offers a large variety of both natural and fake Christmas trees.
Tuincentrum Het Oosten: Located on the outskirts of Amstelveen, Tuincentrum Het Oosten features a large selection of both real & fake Christmas trees (not to mention their enormous kerstmarkt that is certain to have all of the Christmas-related decorations and lights you are seeking).
Ikea: At the beginning of the season, Ikea normally has great offers on Christmas trees. If you’re too late to catch those, they also have fake trees and a whole range of Christmas decorations.
Praxis: This megastore also has Christmas trees for sale. The website isn’t very user-friendly, so better to check out the stores in person. There is one in most Amsterdam neighbourhoods.
Gamma: Similar to Praxis, Gamma offers both natural and fake trees.
Blokker: And of course there is also your trusted Blokker for plenty of fake trees and kitschy decor.
Hema : One of our favourite go-to stores, Hema has a range of fake trees and decorations available.
Xenos: An alternative idea might be a felt Christmas tree which the little ones enjoy to decorate and re-decorate, and if sold out, there are plenty of ideas how to make your own.
Delivered to You
Kerstbomen Amsterdam: Online shopping is a busy mama’s Christmas miracle! Order Christmas online and have it brought to your door.
Wehkamp: This online catalogue store has a variety of fake trees on offer and delivers to your door.
Environment-Friendly Options
For something real but sustainable, why not adopt a Christmas tree? Make the holiday season a little more environment-friendly by adopting a Christmas tree that is given to you every year during the holiday season and returned to the forest for the rest of the year.
Kerstboom.nu: This company offers a live Christmas tree rental service in Amsterdam. For just €47.50 (plus €10 deposit) they will bring a live Christmas tree to your home and collect it after the holidays. They re-plant the tree and let it grow until next Christmas when it will be available to rent again.
Adopteer een Kerstboom: The closest thing to going to an actual tree farm. Your adopted tree is for you to use, return and replant, year after year. The centre runs festive events with mulled wine and hot chocolate. Need we say more?
Pop-Up Stores
You can also get your tree from one of the many road-side stands that appear during the festive period. Some florists also sell Christmas trees.
When It’s All Over
If you are not planning to plant or return your tree, the local council will collect it from outside your house during the second week of January.
Alternatively, take the kids and your tree along to a Christmas tree burning event. These take place in large open areas, such as the Museumplein, and attract an enthusiastic crowd of onlookers. Look for details in your local paper of a Kerstboomverbranding near you.
