This week kids can challenge their balance and strength on an obstacle course, join a colourful carnival celebration, dance along to a flute concert, make their own gold medal and more. Events happening this weekend Apenkooien obstacle course at Sint-Nicolaaslyceum gym – Saturday 7th February Join in the fun with an obstacle course through the gym: running, jumping, climbing and sliding, all without touching the floor! Under the supervision of enthusiastic Sport4kidz instructors and parents, kids can let off steam on the challenging obstacle course or during individual play activities. Brazilian and Caribbean carnival at the Wereldmuseum – Sunday 8th February Carnival is a celebration of connection, blending the traditions of different communities. In Brazil, it’s celebrated with samba music, exuberant costumes and floats. Carnival is also celebrated on a grand scale in the Caribbean, with rhythmic music, dancing and colourful parades. Kids can take part in a craft workshop from 12:00 to 16:00 and a dance workshop at 12:00 and 12:45 to discover how Caribbean and Brazilian carnival feels, sounds and moves. Duo Kefi – folk concert for kids at Munganga – Sunday 8th February Duo Kefi play cheerful folk music on no fewer than five different flutes, a magical cymbal and percussion. From Ireland to Greece, from Brittany to the Balkans: sing and dance along to these enchanting melodies at Munganga theatre! Book your tickets here. Ongoing & upcoming events Olympic Games at Move Lab (every weekend from 7 to 22 February) In February and March 2026, Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo will host the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. More than 3,500 athletes from 93 countries will compete for 198 medals in 22 different disciplines. To celebrate this month of top-class sport and extraordinary performances, Move Lab is organising a fun Olympic programme! Going for gold? Move Lab is looking for the fastest car builder! Compete and win the gold medal of the day and eternal fame. Every day, a winner will be crowned via Instagram! Who is your number 1? Take a seat at the table and craft a beautiful medal. Move Lab will also be broadcasting the Olympic Games every day, so you won’t have to miss a thing during your visit. Take a seat in the TeamNL Mountain Hut and cheer on the team! De fee en de fluisterboom (The Fairy and the Whispering Tree) at Koos Kneus theatre – Sundays in February, March and April A wicked witch secretly sells the whispering tree, where a little fairy has lived for centuries! Can the owl and Miss Marloes still help her? Come and see this performance at Koos Kneus Puppet Theatre to find out! With music and movement and lots of interaction with the children! Weekends at Jeugdland Kids can enjoy an amazing nature playground as well as an opportunity to join in some fun experiments or build their own hut or go-kart. Toddler Club (age 2-5) Saturdays 10:30-11:30 Science lab (from age 6) Saturdays 14:00-16:00 Build a hut or go-kart (from age 6) Sundays 13:00-16:00 No need to book, just turn up. Check the programme here. Softening loss through Yoga at Studio 108 Yoga – 21 February Pregnancy or fertility loss is a frequent yet seldom spoken about experience. This workshop is a moment to acknowledge and soften experiences of loss through slow and gentle I AM yoga therapy – a floor-based practice focused on releasing tension in the body by paying attention to physical sensations. This form of yoga therapy is designed to address both visible symptoms and invisible mental and emotional aspects. Participants will come together with yoga, mantras, cups of tea and a chance to share. Who is this workshop for? It’s intended for those who have come into contact with the experience of pregnancy loss or fertility loss. This could be as a prospective parent, grandparent, donor, partner, sibling, friend or another connection. All genders are welcome. No prior experience of yoga is required. The workshop is best suited to those who would like to explore and settle into their relationship with such experiences through physical sensations and mindful self inquiry. Motherhood Speel, Deel en Recycle festival at De Hallen – Saturday 14th March On Saturday 14 March, you can spend the day swapping toys and children’s clothing at De Hallen in Amsterdam West. There will also be fun recycling workshops, and you can get your broken toys repaired by Repair Café Jeltje. Discover treasures, save toys, and realise that we need far fewer new things than we think. Hoping to find cool building toys, rollerblades, costumes, books, cuddly toys and games?
