Improvisation theater course for young people with autism from
March 12 to July 2; every Sunday on stage.

Improvisational theater is a form of theater in which no script is used. Nevertheless, it is based on a number of strategies that are very applicable for increasing the social flexibility of young people with autism. From being able to quickly build on each other’s ideas, to responding to the acted emotions of the other, improvisation skills are just as applicable in everyday life.

InterActing lets young people with autism experience how to break free from their routines and rituals through improvisational theater in order to face the ever-changing world with confidence.

Little Star Fitness – Mini Groovers Dance Class (2-4 years)

The Mini Groovers dance program is for children between the ages of 2.5 – 4. Throughout the 45 minute class, our Mini Groovers will be introduced to dance in a fun and educational way. Each session will be filled with free dancing, games, music and endless amounts of fun. Skills such as body co-ordination and expression, musical rhythm, relation time lapse-move, balance and concentration will be developed. Our Mini Groovers will explore the following dance styles throughout the term: Ballet, Jazz, African Dance, Latin and Freestyle Dance. Your children will love the fun created during the different activities we provide during this class. Upon finishing the term, achievement medals will be awarded to all the dancers.

Little Star Fitness – Kinder Groovers Dance Class (4-6 years)

The Kinder Groovers Dance Class is offered to children between 4-6 and takes our little groovers to the next level in their rhythm and dance development. This class is designed to help your child expand and develop their musical and dancing skills. During this 50 minute class our Kinder Groovers will learn Ballet, Jazz, Arabic and African Dance techniques in a fun and supportive environment, whilst focusing on their development of short and long term choreographies. This dance class will not only train their bodies but also enable our groovers to recall and retain their learnt knowledge in years to come. Upon finishing the term, achievement medals will be awarded to all the dancers.

Kidzartlab Sunday Morning Session

Children expand their creative genius through the world of art at the Kidzartlab. Through explorations of visual and tactile mediums, children develop self confidence in expression. Each lab session has a central theme, with three stations based on drawing, painting and sculpture. The three disciplines are also combined with each other. Parents explore and discover themes presented at each station with their child. They learn new techniques together that expand the creative vocabulary of possibilities. These ideas create richness and move past the session to expand creativity into other areas of both the child and parents life.

This group is for the age range of +/- 18 months – 5 years old. Exercises are age appropriate and inspire learning through play. Children have a creative adventure developing their motor skills. Left and right hemispheres are integrated through eagerly creating with both hands. Both Emotional and Social intelligence is fostered through individual and group interactions. All of the senses are activated in the lab and a deep knowledge of drawing, painting and sculpture leaves a lasting inspiration. This Sunday morning session is weekly from 10:00-11:00am.

Ju-Jitsu & Ginnastica

The YKR Ju-Jitsu school offers courses and private lessons of Ju-Jitsu, Self-Defence and “Ginnastica” in Amsterdam. The courses are meant for men, women and kids. Besides the health benefits of a physical activity, a traditional martial art helps people to build up self-confidence, discipline and persistence. Mastering a martial art doesn’t mean mastering a weapon against an opponent, it means mastering your mind and consequently your body. Ginnastica is a term that indicates a variety of sports involving sequences of movements that generally require strength, elasticity, and kinesthetic ability (so-called coordination). It is a perfect exercise to harmonize the body and it can be practice as a complementary course for martial artists.

In a nutshell, we teach water confidence and safety skills to babies and toddlers. However, we’re about so much more besides. Our classes are great for making new friends, helping to enhance the bonding process, having fun… and seeing the utter thrill of your little one gliding underwater towards you. Over the years we know our lessons were directly responsible for saving the lives of more than a dozen little ones who otherwise might have tragically drowned. We believe that all children should learn to swim from as early as possible. So that they can have fun, bond with their parents or carers and – should they ever fall in water – have the best possible chance of surviving. That makes us very proud.
