Keeping toddlers busy can be quite a challenge when the sun is in a holiday mood! You can buy your little explorer some adventure time at Baby Sensory without upsetting your holiday budget.
There sits an angry toddler on the doorstep of my neighbor’s house. Unlike his usual giggly self, today he is belting out gibberish screams while his very exhausted parents look for cover. It can be quite a task keeping a toddler’s curious little mind engaged. If you too are having trouble keeping your toddler warm within the four walls, or running out of play ideas, here is something that you can try.
What is Baby Sensory?
Located in Amsterdam, as well as other parts of the Netherlands, Baby Sensory offers a kaleidoscope of colours and music combined with chirpy giggles certain to entertain and engage your little one. They hold age-specific classes for babies and toddlers catering to the age group of 0 months to 5 years.
Their popular Toddler Sense classes include two groups: New Explorers for the very curious 13- to 18-months-old; and Adventurers catering to the fearless bunch of 18-month to 3-year-olds. Drs Natalie van Gelder, a developmental psychologist, brought this award-wining concept from UK to The Netherlands. She explains why classes at Baby Sensory are different from other indoor play activities:
Toddler Sense is unique because it combines gym, dance, music, games and other structured activities. We offer free play time where kids can explore the play area, practice motor skills and get rid of their energy with dynamic activities.
The class begins with play time and progresses to the theme of the week. There are space adventures to go on, mail to be delivered, and fossils to be dug out — all with the help of a Class Leader and parents who are encouraged to participate in these activities with their child.
“Mostly Toddler Sense provides a stimulating environment where kids can play and learn together with their parents. Parents get to share these inspiring moments with their kids as they learn new skills and discover the world through themed activities,” elaborates Natalie.
Joining your toddler in these classes can be more than just ‘together time’, there are lots of ideas that you can take home and to inspire your own playtime activity. And when the happy toddler has had a well-spent hour with mommy (or daddy) and gets ready for an early nap, that is when you can steal some time and embrace those to-dos on your list.
What do other Mamas have to say?
Toddler Sense organised a free class for Amsterdam Mamas in October.
Here is what some mothers had to say:
I love to see my child having fun and that is what happened in the class!
I think this could be a very good class for most kids. I liked that there is free play at the beginning and the play equipment is excellent.
There are good ideas and activities.
My little boy had a great time, the facilities were great, the atmosphere was good and the activities kept him on his toes, all in all an excellent experience.
