Nirit Yogev created Pure Natural Cosmetics as an answer to her own search for natural skincare and beauty products for the whole family.
When Nirit Yogev, owner of Pure Natural Cosmetics, had her first child she found herself becoming more aware of the environment around her and her baby. As a former dancer, she already knew the importance of exercise and a balanced diet to keep our bodies healthy, and as her baby grew, so did her interest in these areas. Nirit’s curiosity soon expanded to exploring the contents of the products we put on our and our babies’ skins. Nirit realised a lot of the products available for her baby and herself contained many ingredients that she felt were harmful to the body. She made the connection that if we are careful about what we put into our bodies in order to stay healthy then why don’t we apply the same theory to what we put onto our bodies?
Thus began Nirit’s journey into what was to become a new passion for her: the world of natural cosmetics. Her explorations led her to discover that, with the right knowledge and suppliers, she would be able to produce her very own cosmetics and beauty products from naturally-sourced, organic products. She enrolled in a comprehensive 12-month course which guided her through the field of natural cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, as well as aromatherapy. Once she had completed this course she was able to produce various creams and lotions in small batches to use on herself and her family. She soon noticed how, having switched to using these handmade products, her family’s skin seemed to improve and appear healthier. She wasn’t the only one to notice and it was not long before her friends were asking her to make products for them too.
Nirit not only tirelessly sourced the highest quality ingredients to meet her personal standards, but she also designed and sourced her branding and packaging.
And so in 2011 Pure Natural Cosmetics was born. She then marketed her beautiful handmade products selling them through her website and having her products in a couple of local concept stores. All this while raising an expanding, and healthy young family.
Not content with just developing and growing her product range, Nirit had a big dream – to have her own salon. She not only wanted to help others to see the benefits of using her products, but also re-energise them with a relaxing massage or facial. And so, Nirit went back to school again and trained to become a beautician. Shortly after qualifying she was able to take advantage of a gorgeous, relaxing space in a local hairdressers where her clients could receive one of her treatments and experience the effect of her lovingly-created pure, natural products.
If you are allergic to one of the ingredients Nirit is able to adjust the recipe so you still get all the benefits without the risk of reacting to the product.
Nirit is about to open a second salon next to her lab in Amstelveen where she regularly produces the items on her 50-strong product line. As each product is handmade in small batches, Nirit is also able to make custom orders that take into account an individual’s needs. For instance, if you are allergic to one of the ingredients, Nirit is able to adjust the recipe so you still get all the benefits without the risk of reacting to the product. All her products are made with naturally-sourced ingredients, they are organic and most are suitable for use by vegans.
If this superwoman, Nirit, is not with her family or in her lab playing with new ideas she can be found inside the hair salon ‘On Set’ on Europaplein in Amsterdam, usually on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
