Myofascial release (aka MFR) is a therapeutic self-care massage technique where specific tools are used to release the fascia. The fascia is a thin sheat of fibrous tissue that penetrates and surrounds the muscles, organs, bones, nerves, blood vessels & other structures, that extends across the body in a 3-dimensional uninterrupted web. During pregnancy, fluid & blood circulation tends to get more difficult, and we also often hold a lot of tension. MFR is an amazing way for expecting women to relax while supporting hydration of the tissues & blood flow.
During this workshop, we will explore:
- The benefits and do's & don'ts of MFR during pregnancy
- Various massage techniques that you can easily reproduce at home
- A MFR practice using different types of props and targeting specific parts of the pregnant body
This workshop is highly beneficial at any stage of the pregnancy, unless you're dealing with any of the contraindications (high risk pregnancy, preeclampsia, pregnancy induced hypertension, severe headaches, swelling, high blood pressure or if you've had previous pre term labor). No prior experience needed.
It will be led by Marie-Laure Hauters (E-RYT 200 & RPYT), Yoganida's founder, who has about 10 years of experience in infant & maternal health. Marie-Laure is Yoganida's prenatal, postnatal, baby & kids yoga lead teacher, classes for which she has taken multiple trainings (incl. in prenatal MFR techniques), which she teaches with great pleasure aside from regular classes for adults.
