The first JSA crèche opened in December 2008 at the Kinkerstraat 47. In June 2015, this nursery relocated to the Bilderdijkstraat 120, just around the corner. The new location remains convenient for Amsterdam Oud-West, Centrum (especially de Jordaan) and Westerpark.
In May 2010, JSA opened its second crèche at Van Oldenbarneveldtstraat 77, which also offers conveniently-located day care for Amsterdam Oud-West, Centrum and Westerpark.
Each JSA crèche provides exceptional daycare for 15 children aged 0 – 4 years.
Natasja is a fully-qualified nurse (Verpleegkundige A) who worked on the maternity ward and the children’s surgical ward at the VU hospital in Amsterdam. She is also a fully-qualified (HBO) primary school teacher with over five years’ experience in Waldorf Steiner education, a humanistic approach to pedagogy based on the works of Rudolph Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy.
Mylan is a fully-qualified children’s social worker (HBO). He worked for the Dutch children’s social services (Jeugdzorg) until November 2010. At this point, the success of JSA daycare warranted Milan’s full-time engagement in addition to Natasja’s.
“After enjoying many years of working with and for children separately, we wanted to combine forces in a way that meant we could independently create the best possible environment for children to grow and develop. Daycare is the ideal way to achieve this.
“Over the years, we have discovered that, in practice, no single theory offers all the answers when it comes to raising children. At JSA, we integrate and apply the most effective elements from all of our acquired experience and know-how, rather than following a unilateral system like anthroposophy.
Each child challenges us every day to look for the best approach for the situation at hand. That is precisely why we love our work! And it is also why we are committed to remaining actively involved in the workplace at both of our crèches.
If our approach sounds right for your family, we would love to hear from you!
